Meditation Practice

Seated meditationEvery Wednesday from 7-8pm, sitting and walking meditation is practiced as a group. If you are new to meditation, instruction in sitting and walking meditation is offered, free of charge.

Walking meditationThe method offered is from a Tibetan Buddhist lineage, an open-eyed meditation called Shamatha, or “calm abiding.” It is not necessary to practice Shamatha in order to participate in this group; all forms of silent meditation are welcome.

Meditation cushions are available. Straight-backed chairs are also available. Feel free to bring your own meditation cushion or bench if you have one. Wear comfortable clothes. Bring a sweater for colder weather. If you bring a drink, please use a closed container.

After meditation, we always gather for refreshments, hot tea, and fellowship. Please feel free to bring something to share if you wish.
